best way to paint wood ceiling
Painting a wooden ceiling takes several days. plan accordingly. only oil-based primer will work over stained wood. be sure to ventilate your workspace. dispose of primer responsibly. cover everything with plastic. two thick coats of primer are best, although i got away with only one. dip the brush only slightly into the primer to avoid drips.. Will a paint sprayer make the job go faster? you can paint a ceiling with a paint sprayer. but by the time you get the paint sprayer set up and every non-paintable item covered—which usually means every single item in the room—you could have already painted your ceiling with a roller. paint rollers will give you the best coverage with much less splatter than paint sprayers.. While there are exceptions, in general you'll get the best results with paint that's formulated for a ceiling application. for a ceiling, you want paint that doesn't spatter, has a long open time (dries slowly), and is flat instead of glossy. most ceiling paints are formulated with these qualities.. best way to paint wood ceiling
Wood ceiling beams give a room a rustic feel, but you cannot easily or cheaply remove the beams if you grow tired of the look. one way around this problem is to paint the beams. whether the beams are painted to blend in with the ceiling or given a contrasting color, the wood finish will be covered up, and the rustic feel will give way to a look. I know what some people are going to say … “your wood ceilings look great, don’t paint them!!” yeah, they look okay in these pictures but up close … from where i am currently sitting and looking at them, i’d tell you that they are look filthy and despite the 50+hours of trying to clean them, you just can’t clean rough hewn cedar.
