how to distress wood grey
Hi shannon! thanks you for the grey distressed finish recipe. i’m a bit confused with step 3. i get that i will be using cil stratosphere paint and water, 1:4 ratio; however, you indicated using “cil stratosphere mixed into sherwin williams paint”.. The wood fades from its natural beige color to a washed-out gray color. speed up this graying process and transform your wood from new to gray using household ingredients. the technique works well for matching new wood to older pieces or giving a distressed, antique look to a craft project.. The photos i took didn’t quite show off the rustic, distressed finish like i wanted, so i am sharing some close up photos today of the finish as well as how we created a weathered wood gray finish. we tested out a few different combinations to get a more gray washed looked.. how to distress wood grey
I distressed down to the stain on the corners and edges. i love that peek of dark wood showing through. to get this diy white and grey distressed look on already stained furniture: clean the furniture with tsp to clean and degrease it. patch with wood filler (if needed) and sand rough areas smooth with 150-grit sandpaper.. To age new wood to a natural silvery gray, to grey-brown or black patina (depending on the wood), let a small piece of steel wool (or a few non-galvanized nails) sit overnight in ordinary white vinegar, then dilute the vinegar solution 1 to 1 with water. (if you used 1/4 cup of vinegar, add 1/4 cup of water.).
